For some people, staying thin is essential to maintain a healthy lifestyle and reduce their risk of many diseases. But it’s a tough road that requires commitment and tenacity because losing those extra pounds requires a multifaceted strategy that includes eating adjustments, consistent exercise, and long-lasting habits. It is difficult because it requires overcoming ingrained habits, resisting temptation and dealing with failure. But what if we told you that there are other ways to lose weight besides fad diets and intense exercise?
You indeed read that right! You can start by implementing some simple methods that can help you lose those extra pounds if you’re not sure whether to join a formal weight loss program or not. Nutritionist and wellness expert Neha Sahaya shared the same story on Instagram saying, “If you’re too lazy to start your weight loss journey, but still unhappy with your weight, try these simple tips.”
She added that these pointers will help you start your weight loss journey and set your mood. These are the tips given by Sahaya.
By following these “easy tips” you can lose weight effectively:
Drink water before and after your meals
According to experts, drink water 20 minutes before and after meals. “You should drink water before your snacks,” she said.
Celebrity fitness coach and nutritionist Vishwas Awasthi also said that drinking water before or immediately after a meal can irritate the stomach acid and disrupt digestion. “This is because the stomach needs to be 75 percent full and 25 percent empty to release bile and enzymes,” he said.
Walk post lunch and dinner
According to Sahaya, a 15-minute walk after lunch and dinner can benefit you. “If you want to do it after your breakfast too, that would be great.”
Awasthi pointed out that it is not good to just walk after a meal. 50-100 steps is perfectly fine. However, this should probably not happen right away as the body will struggle to process the food and will instead focus on burning calories and increasing blood flow while walking. However, if you go for a walk 30 to 45 minutes after eating, a 15-minute walk is fine,” he said.
10 push-ups and 10 sit-ups
Sahaya suggests doing ten push-ups and ten sit-ups at any time of the day. Eventually you will find it really easy and will be able to complete it more easily. Wear a watch to keep track of time, experts advise.
A cup of vegetables before lunch and dinner
Sahaya recommends eating a cup of vegetables at lunch and dinner. “It will create a mesh in your gut, slowly raise your blood sugar, and your stomach will already be half full.”
According to Awasthi, a bowl of vegetables “isn’t the key to fat loss unless you have a similar condition,” and they buffer glucose levels when the meal is balanced.
Make your dessert healthy
While it’s normal to have a sweet tooth, eating too many unhealthy foods can hurt your weight loss efforts. “If you’re craving dessert, make sure to add some dates or strawberries to the chocolate sauce and you’ll be taken care of,” advises Sahaya.
Finally, Awasthi said that “although these are some of the factors that help with fat loss, so are sleep, relationships with food, stress management, and having a health coach to guide you on what works best based on your bio-personality.”
