hosts of the game In an angry letter to the Asian Cricket Council, the Pakistan Cricket Board requests a meeting.
Following a back-and-forth on whether the Asia Cup Super 4 round should be moved to Hambantota to avoid bad weather, it has been determined that the games scheduled for Colombo will go forward.
The tournament’s Sri Lanka leg, which has been significantly impacted by rain, has been a topic of discussion among the organizers during the previous several days. The participating teams were informed on Tuesday morning of plans to move the venue from Colombo to Hambantota in the south, but the choice was quickly changed.
It was only a rumor. The schedule hasn’t changed in any way. According to Ashley de Silva, CEO of Sri Lanka Cricket, the current weather in Colombo is pleasant.
The Premadasa Stadium in Colombo will host the five Super 4 games, including the India-Pakistan encounter on September 10 and the championship game on September 17. The final and the India-Pakistan game will both have a reserve day, it has been determined.
PCB UNHAPPY
The event hosts, the Pakistan Cricket Board, are not pleased with the abrupt change in plans made at the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) administration level. One is aware that they have written to ACC to request the calling of a general body meeting to talk about the scheduling dilemma.
UAE QUIT OVER PLAYER FRAUD
Due to India’s refusal to travel to Pakistan, the tournament is being played in a hybrid format, with five matches taking place in Pakistan and the remaining matches in Sri Lanka. PCB supported using the UAE as the impartial location. The topic was raised for discussion but was once more rejected.
“Initially, all of the full members, as well as the media rights holder and in-stadium rights holders, were reluctant to commit to Pakistan serving as the sole host of the competition. This hesitation resulted from worries about the national security and economic climate, according to ACC president Jay Shah.
ACC management had suggested
“As ACC president, I was dedicated to identifying a workable and amicable resolution. In order to do this, I had agreed to the hybrid approach that PCB and the ACC management had suggested. But, it’s necessary to remember that the PCB’s leadership experienced a number of changes, which led to some back-and-forth negotiations, notably regarding crucial issues like tax exemption and match insurance.
Shah said the UAE wasn’t a viable alternative
The T20 format was used for the Asia Cup 2022 matches in the UAE. It’s critical to stress that a T20 tournament’s dynamics cannot be directly compared to those of a 100-over One-day format. Under this situation, the high-performance teams of the ACC members expressed worries about playing One-Day matches in the UAE in September. Such a schedule might have contributed to player exhaustion and a higher risk of injury, especially just before the crucial ICC Cricket World Cup.
