When recipe names were enigmatic, do you recall? Cooks from decades ago enjoyed creating recipes like tuna wiggle, bean surprise, and lemonade fluff pie! These days, we have recipes like glazed strawberry cookies with labels that make perfect sense and don’t allow any room for speculation. I made the decision to look for a “mysterious” recipe to try out.
Glancing through an old cookbook, I came upon a recipe called strawberry pleasure that sounded good but not very clear.
Strawberry Delight: What Is It?
It turns out that there are a ton of old-fashioned strawberry pleasure recipes available. No two are precisely the same, even though the majority are creamy and delicious: Instant pudding, Jell-O, sweetened condensed milk, almonds, fruit cocktail, and other items are examples of potential ingredients.
So I made a strawberry delight recipe of my own. It’s gorgeously pink, has a fluffy texture, and is sweet but not overly sweet. Beneath all that creamy filling, there’s crunch from a graham cracker base. It also tastes quite strawberry-pineapple.
Our Recipe for No-Bake Strawberry Delight
About 15 portions of this no-bake dessert recipe are ideal for a potluck or party. Make sure to give yourself enough time to thaw the Cool Whip and to refrigerate it after construction. (Thawing two 8-ounce containers takes about 4 hours, and a 16-ounce container takes around 6 hours.)
Ingredients
- 18 graham crackers
- 1/2 cup butter, melted
- 1 can (20 ounces) crushed pineapple
- 1 can (21 ounces) strawberry pie filling
- 4 cups mini marshmallows
- 16 ounces Cool Whip, thawed
- 2 cups frozen strawberries, partially thawed
Guidelines
Step 1 , Prepare the crust.
In a food processor, pulse the graham crackers until they become crumbs. Pour the melted butter through the chute while the machine is operating until the graham cracker crumbs resemble wet sand. Fill the bottom of a 13 by 9-inch baking dish with the buttery crumb mixture using a spoon. Press the crumbs into a uniform layer on the dish’s bottom using the bottom of a drinking glass. Refrigerate the crust for fifteen minutes.
step 2 Blend the fruit and marshmallows.
To remove extra juice, pour the crushed pineapple into a mesh sieve. In a sizable mixing basin, combine the strawberry pie filling and pineapple mixture and stir. Add the little marshmallows and mix until the fruit coats them all the way.
Step 3: Stir in the strawberries and Cool Whip.
Serve the thawed Nice Whip into the bowl and slowly fold into the fruit with a spoon or rubber spatula until everything is well incorporated and has a pretty pink appearance.
To make the second layer, chop the slightly thawed strawberries on a cutting board and fold them into the Cool Whip-marshmallow mixture.
Step 4: Transfer filling into pan using spoon.
After carefully smoothing it to cover the crust evenly, scoop the Cool Whip-fruit mixture onto the cold graham cracker crust. Place the pan under tight cover and refrigerate the dessert for a minimum of 4 hours.
How to Present Sweet Strawberry
Cut through the graham cracker crust and the fluffy filling with a sharp knife. With a flexible spatula, carefully remove the slices from the pan. The messiest part is always the first one!
Present the strawberry pleasure right away.
Variations of Strawberry Delight
Are you dying to try this recipe? There are numerous methods available to you. Consider using blueberry or peach flavors in place of the frozen strawberries and the strawberry pie filling. Whichever fruit you end up using, cream cheese would be a delicious addition to the Cool Whip concoction.
If you don’t have graham crackers on hand, you might use crushed Nilla wafers for the crust. A pecan shortbread crust, if you don’t mind doing some baking, would go well with the filling’s flavors.
Another option is to prepare a tiered strawberry treat. Just remember to keep the strawberries and Cool Whip apart from the marshmallow-pie filling mixture after step 2.
Rather, transfer the mixture onto the crust with a spoon and then cover it with Cool Whip. Place the strawberries carefully on top of the strawberry pleasure to create a gorgeous and vibrant topper. The side profile of every slice produced from a layered strawberry delight dish is very eye-catching!
How to Keep Strawberry Delight Without Baking
You can keep leftovers in the refrigerator for up to a week if you wrap them tightly. Put this simple fruit dessert in the freezer for three months if you want it to last longer. Thaw the strawberry delight in the refrigerator the night before you want to serve it.
