Scientists are proposing that the mystery surrounding UFOs may have a “cryptoterrestrial” twist, meaning that these unexplained objects could represent a highly developed species that is secretly residing among us.

Researchers at Harvard have released a new study on Research Gate that raises intriguing possibilities for mankind: hidden locations on Earth may harbor entire civilizations that are very different from humanity as we know it. The researchers propose that they exist in some capacity, even though they might be underground or have evolved to resemble humans.

They contend that although skeptics dispute the existence of UFOs and whether or not they are alien spacecraft, these entities might have existed all along. Their study spills the beans: “While this notion may sound unlikely on first hearing, many observers are persuaded that it is at least conceivable…. not least because entire swathes of our planet remain virtually unexplored and uncharted.”

The Human Flourishing Program at Harvard University produced the paper, which is expressly identified as a “speculative thought piece” and does not represent the program’s opinions.

The fascinating paper investigates the theory of “cryptoterrestrials” as a means of explaining the plethora of unexplained sightings that are reported annually all over the world. “First, it is increasingly apparent that UAPs are not only aerial but can also move underwater in ways that per their airborne counterparts defy explanation,” the authors said.

Some of the audacious theories put forth in the book include the idea that there is a “remnant form” of an ancient civilization that still exists on Earth. Other theories include the existence of other intelligent species that coexisted with humans, extraterrestrials from different eras or planets, and even paranormal entities similar to “earthbound angels.”

The researchers also hypothesize that these extraterrestrials may live in places like lakes and volcanoes, where reports of encounters are common. This suggests that these locations may serve as entrance and exit sites for underground cultures.

They even consider the idea that societies of extraterrestrials may live closer than we realize—for example, on the moon.

The article focuses on the many uncharted territories on Earth, such as the 80 percent of oceans that we haven’t yet mapped, the mysterious Yonaguni Jima, sometimes referred to as the “Japanese Atlantis,” the countless unexplored cave systems, and even the enigmatic far side of the moon.

“We would also like to emphasize that we believe this hypothesis to be in all likelihood false, but nevertheless believe it still merits scientific investigation,” the article adds. In Congress, the Pentagon, and among the highest levels of government, the term “UFOs” has become less common; instead, it is now more frequently used to refer to “unidentified aerial (or anomalous) phenomena,” or UAPs.

“If another sentient species had inhabited Earth (or Mars) long before Homo sapiens, it is possible that we would have no notion,” the scholars write in their upcoming essay for Philosophy and Cosmology.

The “Alaska Triangle,” which runs from Anchorage to Juneau and up to Utqiagvik, has come to be known as a hotbed for mysterious incidents and UAP sightings.

The author’s pen includes insights from two Harvard scholars and a professor of biological anthropology from Montana Technological University. “Although this idea is likely to be regarded skeptically by most scientists, such is the nature of some UAP that we argue this possibility should not be summarily dismissed, and instead deserves genuine consideration in a spirit of epistemic humility and openness,” the author writes. .
