I am going to try and make Dolly Parton’s 3-bean salad this summer

RECIPE

Dolly Parton's

In the summer, I love cold salads, especially pasta salads. I enjoy putting together a big bowl full of fresh vegetables and topping them with a sweet-and-spicy sauce. It is delicious, cool and very easy to make on hot summer days. Especially, when the last thing I want to do in this heat is turn on my stove or oven!

I’m often looking for new summer dishes, so I wanted to try this salad recommended by country music icon Dolly Parton. After seeing how easy this salad (made with three cans of beans!) was to put together, I wanted to try making it myself to see if Dolly had another hit recipe. I found the recipe in a video from the YouTube channel Journey with the Kellers. I felt this.

How to Make Dolly Parton’s 3-Bean Salad

Pour through a sieve to remove the beans (wax, kidney and green) from the can. Wash the beans thoroughly. Combine the Italian dressing, sugar, and minced garlic in a small bowl. Add the chopped parsley and green onions to a large bowl with the washed beans. After drizzling the salad with the dressing, toss to incorporate. Refrigerate overnight and enjoy!

My Honest Review

I was surprised at how easy this salad was to make before putting it in the fridge to chill overnight. Well, salads are really simple; Simply cut and prepare your ingredients, combine them in a dish with the dressing, and voila! You eat dinner. But who doesn’t love a recipe that’s easy to put together? This salad is ready for the fridge in just 15 minutes of preparation.

When I pulled it out of the refrigerator the next day and cracked open the lid, the aroma of this salad gave me instant satisfaction. Freshly minced garlic flavored it with a dash of sourness from the dressing. What about taste? I can assure you that this salad will not disappoint you. I was shocked at how much I liked it, especially the way the sauce marinated in the beans, removing the tangy, pickled flavor you might normally associate with canned green beans. I immediately scooped more into a large bowl and ate it for lunch as soon as I had it in my mouth.

My only criticism of this salad is that I believe there is too much dressing on it. I split Used the item and found it to be ideal. Without a doubt, I would happily make this salad again. I would even make it for a summer lunch!

Tips for Making Dolly Parton’s Three Bean Salad

  • Use fresh beans: While I recognize that using canned beans is more convenient in this case, I believe that if you have access to fresh green beans and wax beans, adding some fresh crunch to this salad would be fantastic. Using fresh beans will give this salad an even more elevated texture and flavor—canned beans are, after all, almost pickled.
  • Replace navy beans or chickpeas with wax beans: If you’re not a huge fan of wax beans or can’t find a can anywhere, try experimenting with other beans for this salad. To get the same vibrant color, you can substitute wax beans for chickpeas or navy beans.
  • Include cooked Pasta: Although this salad is delicious on its own, adding some cooked small pasta, such as bow-tie or penne, can turn it into a great pasta salad. Your bowl will be bigger if you do this, so I recommend using the amount of dressing the recipe calls for.
