Astronomer Claims to Know Why Aliens Haven’t Messaged Us Until Now
Many people, even experts, merely wish to think that advanced aliens life exists. In an attempt to ease the sadness of not discovering anything, new explanations for why we haven’t gotten along with extraterrestrials often surface. The most recent is from Stony Brook University astronomy professor Frederick Walter in New York. It presents the theory that aliens have been electrocuted by the universe.
According to a notion Walter shared with the Daily Mail, it’s possible that potential alien lifeforms were wiped off by gamma-ray bursts, which are space eruptions packed with radiation that produce the most powerful type of light in the universe—up to a million trillion times brighter than the sun.

He says to DailyMail.com, “It’s a tightly focused beam that, if directed through the galaxy’s plane, could basically sterilize about 10 percent of the planets in the galaxy.” It’s merely one theory among several that could apply.
- A New York astronomer thinks that the reason we haven’t discovered alien life may be due to gamma-ray bursts.
- Planets can be destroyed by the strongest energy explosion in the universe.
- The 1960s saw the discovery of gamma-ray bursts.
Although it is acknowledged that this is a “morbid” interpretation, the devastating force of a gamma-ray burst can destroy anything in its path.
The 1960s saw the detection of the acute radioactive burst by a satellite intended to look for nuclear activity coming from the Soviet Union, which led to the discovery of the gamma-ray burst. Later research revealed that the burst had a cosmic origin, and gamma-ray bursts were studied. In 1991, NASA actually started examining the phenomenon in depth.
Although the Milky Way’s history of gamma-ray bursts is limited, this does not preclude the cosmos as a whole from experiencing these explosions. NASA’s investigation into the cosmic explosion revealed that the events were more common when young, energetic galaxies were developing or when ancient stars fell into black holes.

According to Walter, the predicted frequency of gamma-ray bursts in galaxies is around 100 million years, but NASA study indicates that they could occur as frequently as 10,000 years apart. “If civilizations exist, you might expect a significant number to be eradicated over an average of a billion years.”
The theory that a gamma-ray burst contributed to the extinction of life on Earth is occasionally broached alongside the enormous changes in Earth’s prehistoric past that scientists are debating. A gamma-ray burst needs to strike the target in order to be effective in eradicating it. These events radiate a fairly pinpoint accuracy, similar to a lighthouse beam, with the short-term bursts being less than 2 seconds and the long-term bursts lasting longer than 2 seconds.
Even yet, everything in that intense beam would evaporate entirely. This means that if a planet harboring a plethora of extraterrestrial life was struck by a gamma-ray burst, the life would cease to exist.
Nevertheless, due to their inherent rarity and tendency to occur far from the Milky Way, scientists claim that there is very little chance of harm coming to people from gamma-ray bursts.

A gamma-ray burst theory merely adds to the large number of reasons why aliens haven’t visited, which range from them not wanting to explore beyond their home planet to them destroying themselves in the process. While experts discuss the most likely explanation for why extraterrestrial life hasn’t yet invaded Earth, one hypothesis that is frequently disregarded is the possibility that highly sophisticated alien lifeforms don’t exist. But a gamma-ray explosion might have destroyed them if they had existed at all.
