Kannada director Deepak Aras, best known for his work on Manasology (2012) and Sugar Factory (2023), died on October 17, 2024, at the age of 42 due to kidney failure.
He had been battling kidney issues for some time, and his sudden death left the Kannada film industry in shock. Despite ongoing treatment for kidney failure, he died at a private hospital in RR Nagar.
“My dearest brother Deepanna has left us this morning at 6 AM, we are in deep pain losing you at this young age. You live in us forever (sic)."
Deepak’s directorial debut, Manasology, was a romantic drama that marked his entry into the industry, but it was his second film, Sugar Factory, that brought him into the limelight after a long hiatus.
Released in 2023, Sugar Factory was a comedy entertainer that captured the pub culture of modern times and featured Darling Krishna in the lead role.
Deepak leaves behind two children, a wife, and a large extended family. His last rites took place in Bengaluru, as announced by his sister Amulya in her Instagram story.
