Since Poke Balls are a means of capturing Pokemon, they seem to be an important element in Pokemon GO. While fans are used to the standard red and white Poke Ball, there are other variations as well. Some Poke Balls can capture Pokemon more often than others, and only capture one type of Pokemon each time.

One of the most popular items that trainers can get from PokeStops in Pokemon GO are Poke Balls. If they are not in use, they can take up a lot of space. But are the Poke Balls essential to Pokemon Go’s gameplay worth tossing? Or is it preferable to have more than less?

Everything to Know About Poke Balls in Pokemon GO

There are *three types of Poke Balls:

• Poke Ball (red/white)
• Great Ball (blue/white)
• Ultra Ball (yellow/white)

In addition to the standard Poke Ball, Great Ball and Ultra Ball, there is a Premier Ball. • Click on the item (bag icon).
• After swiping down on the desired item, tap the trash can icon next to the item’s description.
• To indicate how much trash to dump, tap the + or – icon, then select Yes.

Poke Balls should only be thrown as a last resort as capturing Pokemon is the only way to level up and gain experience points. Pokemon can usually escape Poké Balls fairly easily, or they will attack as soon as one is thrown in their direction. Trainers can accidentally drop a Poke Ball if they tap it during an encounter, but should not drop it. Either way, this Poke Ball will be considered “lost”.

Sadly, when it comes to collecting Pokemon, it’s incredibly easy to use up a bunch of Poke Balls. The best course of action is to save them and use them during events, especially during Spotlight Hours, when finding shiny Pokemon is a breeze.
